Cornelius McGreevy died 12 Jan 1894 in an avalanche while in his prospecting site with John Bollins. Cornelius was in the cabin when the avalanche hit and Bollins was outside. Cornelius was born 6 Aug 1838 in Ireland. The Spokane newspaper article has his age incorrect.
Cornelius McGreevy, son of Cornelius McGreevy b. 1805 • County Down, Northern Ireland - d. 27 October 1859, Carrickmannon and Saintfield, Down, Ireland, and Mary Ann Gilmore. 1809 • Raffrey, County Down, Ireland - d. Sept. 1893 • Newtownards, Down, Northern Ireland.
I believe that 2 other miners/prospectors who were also trapped in the avalanche but survived learned that McGreevy and Bollins were unaccounted for when they traveled into Mullan, ID the next day.
Find a Grave lists the Fairmont Cemetery in Mullan but the cemetery records do not include his name.
I have since taken over responsibility for that Find a Grave page and hope to provide correct information and supporting resources.
I also have documents that show Cornelius McGreevy left 1/8 of a share of his prospecting site to each of his children, one being my Great Grandpa Hugh McGreevy.
